Can Protein Bars Help You Lose Weight?

By Nancy Grasham

Most of us eat protein bars to give us energy after an intense workout. They can likewise be a hassle-free travel meal, an occasional mini-meal when we are in a rush or a meal replacement if we are attempting to minimize our food consumption.

In a majority of these cases, we are selecting protein bars to remain healthy and often drop weight. Nonetheless, when you are staring at a store rack full of products, how do you figure out which ones are better for slimming down?

The Short Answer:

The bottom line is that we want to stay clear of sugar and processed foods. Some people try to find "low carb" on item packaging, however, you do not want to be fooled into getting a great deal of processed reduced carb garbage either.

However, There's a Challenge ...

A big challenge is that most protein bars have a substantial quantity of sugar, and some have a variety of several types of sweetener. Some labels even list sugar as the first ingredient!

I know that a sweetener enhances food flavor, however, protein bars which contain a great deal of sugar are basically candy bars disguised as a healthy snack, in my opinion. This resembles a chocolate chip morning muffin - isn't that really a cupcake in reality? Hmm ...

What to Search for if You Want to Drop Weight:

If you want a very sweet protein bar, that's ok. It simply will not aid you in burning fat. If you are wanting to reduce weight or keep your weight under control, search for nutrition bars that have no added sugars.

This can be challenging, and you will frequently need to look for an all-natural health bar that does not contain any processed ingredients. An example would be a trail mix bar that contains a mix of natural nuts and seeds with shredded coconut or dried fruit.

If you are looking for reduced sugar, high protein bars, there are some nut and seed bars with protein powder added, like egg white protein powder. Lots of paleo athletes choose these kinds of protein bars, because they do not include milk and they are gluten-free too.

Some Additional Coll Things ...

Another benefit to consuming a low-sugar or no-sugar treat is that it will decrease your hunger for more sugar. Have you ever finished a high-calorie protein bar and immediately wanted another? This is likely a sugar craving, and consuming another bar will certainly not help you burn fat.

Low sugar, unprocessed nutrition bars are typically much easier to digest and provide a significant amount of nourishment naturally. Ingredients like nuts and coconut have a lot of healthy fats, and are for that reason great for satiating hunger and food cravings.

Paleo protein bars don't have much sweetener and usually include a substantial quantity of protein. Too see a comparison graph of various choices, click right here.
